Divide both sides by -1.
x=\frac{-y-1}{-1}
Dividing by -1 undoes the multiplication by -1.
x=y+1
Divide -y-1 by -1.
y+1=x
Add x to both sides. Anything plus zero gives itself.
y=x-1
Subtract 1 from both sides.
