Pick one of the two equations which is more simple to solve for x by isolating x on the left hand side of the equal sign.
3^{a+b}y=1
Substitute 3^{a+b} for x in xy=1. Because the resulting equation contains only one variable, you can solve for y directly.
y=\frac{1}{3^{a+b}}
Divide 1 by 3^{a+b}.
x=3^{a+b},y=\frac{1}{3^{a+b}}
