5x-1-\left(-x\right)=3\left(x-1\right)+2
To find the opposite of 1-x, find the opposite of each term.
5x-1+x=3\left(x-1\right)+2
The opposite of -x is x.
6x-1=3\left(x-1\right)+2
Combine 5x and x to get 6x.
6x-1=3x-3+2
Use the distributive property to multiply 3 by x-1.
6x-1=3x-1
Add -3 and 2 to get -1.
6x-1-3x=-1
Subtract 3x from both sides.
3x-1=-1
Combine 6x and -3x to get 3x.
3x=-1+1
Add 1 to both sides.
3x=0
Add -1 and 1 to get 0.
x=0
Product of two numbers is equal to 0 if at least one of them is 0. Since 3 is not equal to 0, x must be equal to 0.
