8+x^{2}-4x=x^{2}
Add 4 and 4 to get 8.
8+x^{2}-4x-x^{2}=0
Subtract x^{2} from both sides.
8-4x=0
Combine x^{2} and -x^{2} to get 0.
-4x=-8
Subtract 8 from both sides. Anything subtracted from zero gives its negation.
x=\frac{-8}{-4}
Divide both sides by -4.
x=2
Divide -8 by -4 to get 2.
