To solve a pair of equations using substitution, first solve one of the equations for one of the variables. Then substitute the result for that variable in the other equation.
y=6t
Pick one of the two equations which is more simple to solve for y by isolating y on the left hand side of the equal sign.
6t+2x=8
Substitute 6t for y in the other equation, y+2x=8.
2x=8-6t
Subtract 6t from both sides of the equation.
x=4-3t
Divide both sides by 2.
y=6t,x=4-3t
The system is now solved.
