Consider the second equation. Add 3x to both sides.
y=m,y+3x=c
To solve a pair of equations using substitution, first solve one of the equations for one of the variables. Then substitute the result for that variable in the other equation.
y=m
Pick one of the two equations which is more simple to solve for y by isolating y on the left hand side of the equal sign.
m+3x=c
Substitute m for y in the other equation, y+3x=c.
3x=c-m
Subtract m from both sides of the equation.
x=\frac{c-m}{3}
Divide both sides by 3.
y=m,x=\frac{c-m}{3}
The system is now solved.
