4\times 3x-5=20x-2\times 7x
Consider the first equation. Multiply both sides of the equation by 20, the least common multiple of 5,4,10.
12x-5=20x-2\times 7x
Multiply 4 and 3 to get 12.
12x-5=20x-14x
Multiply -2 and 7 to get -14.
12x-5=6x
Combine 20x and -14x to get 6x.
12x-5-6x=0
Subtract 6x from both sides.
6x-5=0
Combine 12x and -6x to get 6x.
6x=5
Add 5 to both sides. Anything plus zero gives itself.
x=\frac{5}{6}
Divide both sides by 6.
x=\frac{5}{6} y=-\frac{1}{5}
The system is now solved.
