4x+8=\left(x-1\right)\times 5
Use the distributive property to multiply x+2 by 4.
4x+8=5x-5
Use the distributive property to multiply x-1 by 5.
4x+8-5x=-5
Subtract 5x from both sides.
-x+8=-5
Combine 4x and -5x to get -x.
-x=-5-8
Subtract 8 from both sides.
-x=-13
Subtract 8 from -5 to get -13.
x=13
Multiply both sides by -1.
