To add or subtract expressions, expand them to make their denominators the same. Least common multiple of y-1 and 1-y is y-1. Multiply \frac{2}{1-y} times \frac{-1}{-1}.
\frac{x+2\left(-1\right)}{y-1}
Since \frac{x}{y-1} and \frac{2\left(-1\right)}{y-1} have the same denominator, add them by adding their numerators.
