Use the distributive property to multiply x+1 by 5.
5x+5=-15x+45
Use the distributive property to multiply x-3 by -15.
5x+5+15x=45
Add 15x to both sides.
20x+5=45
Combine 5x and 15x to get 20x.
20x=45-5
Subtract 5 from both sides.
20x=40
Subtract 5 from 45 to get 40.
x=\frac{40}{20}
Divide both sides by 20.
