\left(x-1\right)\times 5-\left(x+3\right)=0
Variable x cannot be equal to any of the values -3,0,1 since division by zero is not defined. Multiply both sides of the equation by x\left(x-1\right)\left(x+3\right), the least common multiple of x^{2}+3x,x^{2}-x.
5x-5-\left(x+3\right)=0
Use the distributive property to multiply x-1 by 5.
5x-5-x-3=0
To find the opposite of x+3, find the opposite of each term.
4x-5-3=0
Combine 5x and -x to get 4x.
4x-8=0
Subtract 3 from -5 to get -8.
4x=8
Add 8 to both sides. Anything plus zero gives itself.
x=\frac{8}{4}
Divide both sides by 4.
x=2
Divide 8 by 4 to get 2.
