4x-4=2x
Use the distributive property to multiply x-1 by 4.
4x-4-2x=0
Subtract 2x from both sides.
2x-4=0
Combine 4x and -2x to get 2x.
2x=4
Add 4 to both sides. Anything plus zero gives itself.
x=\frac{4}{2}
Divide both sides by 2.
x=2
Divide 4 by 2 to get 2.
