Variable x cannot be equal to 0 since division by zero is not defined. Multiply both sides of the equation by 4x, the least common multiple of 4x,2x.
3x-1+2-4x=0
Use the distributive property to multiply 2 by 1-2x.
3x+1-4x=0
Add -1 and 2 to get 1.
-x+1=0
Combine 3x and -4x to get -x.
-x=-1
Subtract 1 from both sides. Anything subtracted from zero gives its negation.
x=1
Multiply both sides by -1.
