2x-9-3-x=0
To find the opposite of 3+x, find the opposite of each term.
2x-12-x=0
Subtract 3 from -9 to get -12.
x-12=0
Combine 2x and -x to get x.
x=12
Add 12 to both sides. Anything plus zero gives itself.
