x+1-3+x=1
To find the opposite of 3-x, find the opposite of each term.
x-2+x=1
Subtract 3 from 1 to get -2.
2x-2=1
Combine x and x to get 2x.
2x=1+2
Add 2 to both sides.
2x=3
Add 1 and 2 to get 3.
